Ah-Tissue Love

I have birthday on the brain. Our youngest (and last) turns 5 this month. Wow. 5. Eek.... Ok, now that I have officially freaked out, onto much better things.

As I was perusing the web looking for memorable decorations and inspirations I found myself at the lovely blog of brilliant & creative Daneve of Ah-Tissue. Former Event Coordinator (amongst other creative positions) turned stay-at-home mum opened Ah-Tissue, a tissue paper pom online shop offering unique decorations for home or events. From hanging poms to garlands & cupcake toppers in solids or prints, you are bound to find something to really add that extra something to your little ones special day.

I am quite excited to share with you images from the party she created for her little one.

I love how she added her printed poms in the dining area. It looks so festive.

So whimsically & thoughtfully decorated

with arts and crafts and...

 tasty treats galore.

Refreshments await those returning from the safari.

On the lookout for the elusive zebra.

Photo Op! Don't you just love this little staging area?

Daneve (and her husband) put so much thought and love into making their son's day as special and memorable as it could be. You can read all about the details here.

Do you have any special birthday memories to share?

4th Love

There is something a little magical and wonderful about taking time out of the everyday to enjoy celebrating with family. One of our favorite holidays happens to be the 4th of July.

I think that it is the combination of summer freedom, lovely weather, fresh delectable fruit, casual entertaining & a hint of nostalgia that proves enjoyable for all.

For the past few years we have been blessed to join in at the festivities my brother-in-law and sister-in-law so lovingly prepare. The city parade proves as the mid-day highlight which when well planned,   can be quite enjoyable.

Proper sun wear

and a safety lesson are pre-parade necessities.

A grand entrance from above seems to be quite the thing to get the party started.

a little old west...

 the boys worthy of respect

and some local Heros.

The rest of the day found itself full of water play,  adventures in the playhouse, a little friendly game of croquet and peaceful lounging. And as much that may go into such perfect days, there are a few things that make it all worth it...

The hope that this feeling of joy and wonderment will live within him forever.

Hoping you all had your own wonderfully memorable day as well.

Chalk Love

It's Summer!

Summer is in full swing around here & although the little man maintains his weekly morning schedule of school and book club, afternoons continue to fill themselves with all the joys that summer offers.

Swimming, painting, farmers markets & beach trips are weekly musts. Now for all that time in between...

Awhile ago we did a re-purpose crayon project here, where we used plastic molds to create unique crayon shapes. Today little hands finding themselves inside & longing to stay busy began searching through the arts & crafts cabinet where they came upon said molds. Shortly thereafter they found a box marked "Chalk" hiding behind the clay.

And so, we started with this...

and ended with this...

I know that you can make chalk from scratch, but one day while perusing a little online shop here I found the ease of 1-click, free priority mail, instant rainy day activity quite appealing.

This afternoon was the perfect time to brush up on our color-mixing abilities, following instructions & mean counting skills.  We'll get to the from scratch version someday.

How are you enjoying your summer?

Poetry Love

and a little award.

It's that time again. As the school year comes to a close, the calendar becomes peppered with year-end events that highlight some of the strengths our children possess. I personally love making a big deal out of such occasions as they are a bright spot celebrating the accomplishments of each individual child.

This year the newly emerging teen decided to try on a few different hats and step out of her all inclusive self to share with the world (well, our little world), a little bit of her soul.

There is just something magical and romantic about....

Return Love

The spring always seems to fill up so quickly. A time when everyone climbs out of their little winter cocoons, spreads their wings and begin to fly.

There has been a mish-mash of activity going on around here, not to mention the new guests.

This friendly fellow just showed up one morning & helped us devoure our tasty breakfast

We enjoyed playing at the park with some new friends.

And, another Great Easter Egg hunt thanks to Uncle J and his magnificent hand painted eggs.

Clever Robot hiding

and Elmo trying to pretend to be a flower or berry but the kid was far to clever to be tricked.

Adventures being Thing One & Thing Two and hanging with The Cat in the Hat.

Stair Sliding at Grandpa & Grandma's
(mommy holding her breath & car keys just in case an E.R. trip was in the immediate future)

Rock Jumping
and....

Art School accepting.

A Little Hiding Love

There's a little fun in hiding....

from the camera...

 or a searching sibling...

in plain sight...

or in a creative world we call our own.

Where's your favorite hiding place?

Recovering Love

So a four year old little love of mine has been home recovering from something unpleasant
but has figured out how to deal with it personally.

" Mom! These are the germs that are making me cough!"

I think he has everything under control.

Preschool Valentine Love

Last night as I was discussing the whole valentine exchange process with him, we realized that our eldest is out of the valentines for the whole class stage and that our youngest is experiencing the friendly exchange for the first time. A little bit of joy & saddness at the same time, like a bite of sweet and sour. Unexpected pleasure.

One of the moms from Q's school decided to be awesome and held a valentine photo shoot on Tuesday. She was lovely enough to send the photos out on Wednesday which produced ....

that lead to....

using a little this and filled with ....

and a whole lot of ...

I LOVE how four year olds view the world, don't you?
